An uproarious comedic universe swirling with chaos and lust, Arcadia explores the nature of truth and time, and "the attraction that Newton left out - sex." Come uncover the scandal of carnal embrace in the ghostly past of Sidley Park.
In a large English country house in Derbyshire in April 1809 sit Lady Thomasina Coverly, aged thirteen, and her tutor, Septimus Hodge. Through the window may be seen some of the 500 acres inclusive of lake where Capability Brown's idealized landscape is about to give way to the "picturesque" Gothic style; "Everything but vampires", remarks garden historian Hannah Jarvis to Bernard Nightingale when they stand in the same room 200 years later. Tom Stoppard's absorbing play takes us back and forth between the centuries and explores the mystery of Lord Byron's "duelling pistols."
Join Theatre Incarnate for this intellectual whodunit, presented "in the round", where more than idyll gardening is taking place. From the producers of Men Seldom Make Passes at Girls Who Wear Glasses and the O'NeillFest hit, The Hairy Ape - **** Wpg Free Press.
